Horreum means barn in Latin language (horrevm in original script). During the Roman Empire age, the term was used to refer to a public warehouse for storing agriculture food products. The giant Horrea Galbae in Rome were used to store crops, olive oil, wine and other foodstuffs.
Our properties raise on the territory of Villasor municipality, in Italy, a land inhabited since the stone age, as indicates the “Su Sonadori” archaeological site. Due to the highly fertile soil, the Romans exploited the area for growing crops for the empire. The ancient name of the town, “Sorres”, derives from ‘Horres’ a geographical variant in the late-period language of the Empire, for the term ‘horrea’, the plural from of ‘horreum’.
Horreum is today the name of our firm, a limited company whose name is registered under Italian laws with no. 291377, at the Company Registrar and Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari. The trade mark “Horrevm Italian agri-food”, represented in our home page, is registered under international laws and its use is reserved to the Horreum Ltd., with an exclusive right of exploitation enforceable on any business organisation operating from any EU countries.
